Soldiers in Sleep (Poem)

They stand upon their towering limbs,
Eyes shut yet seeing still- the void before them.
Like sentinels never surrendering fully to the pull of the spell.

But when their stalkers surrender from their sin:
They kneel to stillness limbs drawn close,
Slender necks coiled
rest their head on their folded haunches
for a scanty slumber.
